September 28, 2016-John 3:9-21

v.9-15

How can this be?  Good question Nicodemus.  Too often we ask the same types of questions wanting to know how rather than living on faith.  Jesus tells him, I’ve tried to share this with you in earthly terms to help you understand the kingdom things and you don’t believe, how will you believe when it takes greater faith to understand heavenly things.

The Son of Man must be lifted up like Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness.  What could this mean?  What does this have to do with life?

v.16-18

God’s love for the world is what compelled him to give His, that whoever believes in him won’t die but have eternal life.  What is belief?  Is it just about what we claim to know?

God is not trying to condemn the world but to save the world.  Condemnation is our current condition and failure to accept the gift given to us in Jesus just leaves us there.

v.19-21

This is the verdict, Light has come, but people loved darkness instead of light because it was what they were already walking in darkness.  Those that do evil have light, because it exposes the evil they do.

Whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.  Is this also speaking to Nicodemus coming to him in the middle of the night?  Is it also describe the arrest and trials of Jesus?  What are your thoughts?
